Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I register my son or daughter?

Easy. Click here, select the appropriate division, and follow the instructions.

2. Where does Presidio Little League play?

Presidio Little League plays on the dedicated baseball fields at Sefton Park, located conveniently on the west end of Mission Valley at 2510 Hotel Circle Place, San Diego, CA 92108. Since there are only baseball fields at Sefton Park, we enjoy substantial flexibility with scheduling practices and we never have to take a backseat to soccer teams. You can view a close-up a map of our fields here.

3. What are the divisions offered for each age level?

Presidio Little League offers league play in multiple divisions, divided by age as follows:

Bam-Bam Division (Age 4) The Bam-Bam division provides a fun, very basic introduction to the game for four year olds.  Players hit off the tee and learn the basics of the game.  Bam-Bam games are only on Saturdays at the T-Ball field. **Not Offered in the Fall Season**

T-Ball/Coach Pitch Division (Ages 5-6) The T-Ball Division provides five and six-year olds an opportunity to learn the game and compete against other teams.  Players hit off the tee and progress to coach-pitch, i.e. underhand soft-toss, as the season goes on. During the fall season, games are on Sundays. For the spring season, teams have one game during the week and then another game on Saturday.  Most of the games are at Sefton Park, however, some weeks the teams will play other local teams at different fields.

CAPS Division (Ages 7-8) CAPS stands for Coach Assisted Pitching; the players hit balls off a pitching machine, operated by their coach. The Division is intended for seven and eight-year olds, but younger players who are more advanced can also play in the CAPS division.  On occasion, we may allow nine year-olds to play in the CAPS division if they are not ready for Minors. During the fall season, games are on Sundays. For the spring season, teams have one game during the week and then another game on Saturday.  Most of the games are at Sefton Park, however, some weeks the teams will play other local teams at different fields.

Minors Division (Ages 9-11) The Minors division is the first level of baseball where the kids are the pitchers. The pitcher’s mound at the Minor’s field is 46 feet from home plate and the base paths are 60 feet. The division is open to players between nine and eleven years old. Eight-year old players who are more advanced are also welcome to try-out for the Minors division.  During the fall season, games are on Sundays. For the spring season, teams have one game during the week and then another game on Saturday.  Most of the games are at Sefton Park, however, some weeks the teams will play other local teams at different fields.

Intermediate Division (Ages 12-13) The Intermediate division is open to players between 12 and 14 years old.  The pitcher’s mound at the Intermediate field is 50 feet from home plate and the base paths are 70 feet.  Players in the Intermediate division will play some games at Sefton Park and will also play games against other local Little League teams at their home fields.

Junior Division (Age 14) The Junior division is open to players between 12 and 14 years old, but most players are age 14. Junior teams play on the full size baseball field, i.e. the pitcher’s mound is 60 feet, 6 inches from home plate and the base paths are 90 feet. Players in the Intermediate division will play some games at Sefton Park and will also play games against other local Little League teams at their home fields.

4. When does the 2018 Fall Season start?

The fall season begins with a practice/assessment on Sunday, August 26, 2018 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.  Following assessments, you will be notified of your team, coach and practice times. The first games will be played on Sunday, September 9 and will continue every Sunday until late November or early December.

5. What equipment does each player need to bring?

Each player should show up to every practice and game with a glove and a baseball cap.  Players are also encouraged to bring their own bats and batting helmets.  Players at the CAPS level and up should also wear baseball cleats to each practice and game.

NOTE: Per Little League Rules, all bats must have the "USA Baseball" logo. Players will not be allowed to use a bat without the "USA Baseball" logo in any Little League game.

6. What days are practices?

Practices are usually held in the afternoon/evening on weekdays.  The specific practice days depend on which team the player is assigned, and you will receive practice days and times when team assignments are made.

7. What is "league age" and how is it determined?

The ages for each division are based upon the player's "league age."  For players born in 2006 or later, their "league age" will be their age on August 31 of that calendar year.  For players born before 2006, their "league age" will be their age on April 30 of that calendar year. Click here for a chart showing how to calculate a player's league age for the 2018 fall and 2019 spring seasons.
